PROGRAM
Free
Play:
Housekeeping Center, Block Area, Library, puzzles, games, playdough,
manipulative and table top materials.
Art:
Crayons, paint, scissors, glue, construction paper, glitter, and
other”messy media” for self-expression.
Physical:
Exercises, outdoor games, running, jumping, climbing, balancing and
throwing balls.
Music:
Rhythm instruments, creative movements, following instructions
through, song, singing and beanbag exercise.
Science:
Observing, experimenting, exploring and discovering.
Dramatic:
Puppets, finger plays, dance and role-playing.
Health & Safety:
Learning health, safety rules, and nutrition
Story
time:
Literature for children.
Readiness:
Language and communication, pre-reading and pre-math activities,
audiovisual perception.
Special Activities:
Computer experience, cooking, fieldtrips, guest speakers, special
events will occur throughout the school year.
REGISTRATION
Registration
for the 2007-2008 school year begins:
February 15-28.
These dates
are for Families who currently/previously have
children enrolled in the school and for First
United Methodist Church members. After February 28, 2006, we will
open registration to the public. Classes run late August through
May. We loosely follow the vacation schedule of the Mesa Public
School District.
ADMISSION POLICY
First United
Methodist Preschool and Kindergarten admits any student regardless
of race, color, religion or ethnic background and national origin.
STAFF
Our
staff members have been chosen for their training, experience,
character and ability to relate well with young children. They are
qualified teachers in early childhood education, and provide
developmentally appropriate activities. All of our teachers are
good Christian role models with a willingness and devotion to
continue their professional growth. In compliance with the state of
Arizona licensing regulations, all staff members have been
fingerprinted and are registered with the Arizona Department of
Health Services. This is done after completion of background checks
with the Arizona Department of Public Service and the Federal Bureau
of Investigation. In addition, our staff has completed CPR and
First Aid training.
FAITH
We incorporate
into our daily program the wonder of God's love and guidance in our
lives. We sing songs about God, pray before snack and learn Bible
verses. Our stories nurture values in an atmosphere reflecting
faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
