1st United Youth Praise Band Milas Yoes is originally from Huntsville,Texas. He has a Bachelors of Music Education from Sam Houston State University, Masters of Music in trombone performance from the University of Arizona and currently is a doctoral student in Instrumental Music Education at Arizona State University. Milas has performed with the symphony orchestras in Phoenix, Tucson and Scottsdale. He also served as principal trombonist of the Greensboro Symphony in North Carolina. In addition to his orchestral experience, Milas has performed with such artists as the Temptations, Ben Vereen, Eddie Fisher, Johnny Mathis, Sammy Davis Jr., Mickey Rooney and Perry Como. Mr. Yoes has been Director of Bands at Arizona Western College, Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Jazz Studies at Phoenix College and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. He was Director of Bands at Powell Jr. High in Mesa, Arizona for two years and Fees Middle School in Tempe, Arizona. His bands consistently won superior ratings at local and state festivals for concert bands, as well as jazz ensembles. For nine years, Mr. Yoes distinguished himself as the artistic director of the Young Sounds of Arizona program for the Phoenix Federation of Musicians, Local 586. Currently he is Director of Bands, Jazz Studies and Department Coordinator at Phoenix College. He resides in Gilbert, Arizona with his wife Donna and two sons, Dustin and Marshall. |
